What would you like others to know about being a:

Working Momma

You can have it all, but not at the same time. At times, one or two areas of your life will need more attention than others, whether that’s your kids, husband or job. It’s a constant balancing act, but it is possible and fulfilling. I’ve learned that it’s essential to define for yourself where your priorities lie... if you have to choose between work or your family, you need to have resolved in advance that family will always come first and that makes tough decisions easier.

What has surprised you the most about motherhood?

The amazing network of people, content and support that exists! It’s an entire ecosystem that I didn’t know was out there until I had kids. Sounds silly, but sometimes seeing a quote on Instagram has been the exact relatable nugget that I needed at that moment to get my head in the right spot.

How do you practice self-care as a mom?

TV shows after bedtime & making the time occasionally for a professional blow out. Having my hair look good does wonders for my spirit.

What's the hardest thing about being a mom?

The mental load. (Google it if you haven’t heard this term yet!)

Best advice about motherhood you’ve received?

That’s so hard...I’ve gotten a lot of good advice (and a lot of “bad” advice for me). For me it has been about finding the communities with parenting approaches that you identify with, and the good advice will be flowing constantly. And it will be the advice that feels right, not like someone is preaching about what you “should” be doing. Also, don’t cry over anything that can’t cry over you.

Must-have baby registry product?

A good stroller. You won’t regret this splurge in the long run. UppaBaby Vista is my pick.

Favorite motherhood quote?

“In the happiest of our childhood memories, our parents were happy, too.”
